With the gardening season in full bloom, the Nevada State Museum presents an opportunity to learn to weave those vines, leaves and grasses into artistic basketry creations. The public is invited to come and enjoy a demonstration of “Weaving with Natural Materials” on Thursday, July 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Experts from the Great Basin Basketmakers will demonstrate how to twine and wrap natural materials such willow, pine needle, iris leaves, daylily, honeysuckle, and tule to design innovative baskets.
