They said they would finish by Nevada Day, and they were true to their word. At 10:30 am on Friday, the Mayor and other city officials cut the ribbon at Telegraph Square and opened the newly-redesigned Curry Street to pedestrians and traffic. The project included tearing up the street to put in all-new underground utilities, and then putting in a wider sidewalk, new planters, brickwork, and a repaved roadway. Curry Street now matches the recently-redone Carson Street just one block away, creating a unified downtown core between the two streets.
Let’s take a look at the ceremony and a walk along the four blocks of redone street.
