The Nevada Arts Council presents “Simple Systems,” an exhibit of stunning photographs by Nolan Preece, which investigates the overlapping areas between conceptual, minimal and fine art photography. The large-format works are one-of-a kind images that vibrate with vivid colors and shapes that, when examined closely, are in reality everyday objects.
“Simple Systems” is on display through January 25, 2008 as part of the Council’s Office eXhibition Series (OXS). An artist talk and opening reception will be held in the OXS gallery on Thursday, December 20 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Describing his work, Preece, said, “I chose the photogram [a form of photography] as a method of working because it delivers a “photo-monotype,” more closely aligned with painting or printmaking. I chose the chromogenic print as the medium, which involves color. And I use the simplest of objects to maintain a minimal gesture.”
The OXS gallery is located in Nevada Arts Council office at 716 N. Carson Street (intersection of Washington Street), Suite A, in Carson City. Call 775.687.6680 for details.
