The storm drains in West Carson have finally been cleared out, so the water is back underground where it should be. But that doesn’t mean the flows have stopped. There is still a lot of snowmelt coming off those mountains, and rivers and streams everywhere are running higher than normal. No Safe Place posted some pictures of the Carson River out by Deer Run Road a couple of days ago, and I have these that I took yesterday from Cradlebaugh Bridge in the Carson Valley, where Hwy 395 crosses the river.
The water is so high that Mottsville Lane, also in the Carson Valley, is closed due to flooding. They’ve got this hot pink sign in the road that says, “Turn Around Don’t Drown” next to the Road Closed sign.
The Walker River down by Coleville is also approaching flood stage.
