When news of this broke in January, I was skeptical, as I am of any news of major construction these days. An ambitious rebuild of the old Carson Lanes at the south end of town, demolishing half the structure to build office space and severely renovating the rest, was promised by the owners of the old bowling alley. I wished them luck, but I though with the glut of retail space that’s currently sitting unused around town it wasn’t the best time to put money into a project like this.
Well, they’re doing it anyway.
This week demolition started on the west end of the bowling alley, knocking down some of the old lanes to make room for the new construction. This is one building that has definitely needed a makeover, so it will be good to see it when it’s all done.
