The Nevada Appeal reports that the new Holiday Inn in Minden has opened. This marks the first, and so far the only, tenant in the Minden Gateway Center. The hotel was supposed to be surrounded by acres of retail and office space, with a supermarket and a drug store, but things are not looking good for that project. So for now, the hotel stand by itself in an increasingly weed-strewn lot. Hopefully there are enough travelers coming through town to keep it full.
In related news, the Carson Valley Inn has been sold to the owners of Bodine’s in Carson and the Silver Legacy in Reno, ending 25 years of ownership by the Mulreany family of the Carson Valley’s largest hotel and casino.
