The Carson Times has a story this week about Kelly O’Keefe, the Carson City town drunk in the 1960s.
But stories about the tiny (under 5 foot tall) impish, modern day leprechaun with the twinkling blue eyes and pug nose still abound, and they lose nothing in the telling.
Kelly was a lovable drunk and a real character who was considered quite intelligent, and when sober, could intrigue fellow bar patrons with stories about the old mining days in the Comstock. He was also said to have been a professional jockey at one time which was easy to believe considering his diminutive stature.
He was a real popular fellow, because the Nevada Appeal wrote about him a few years ago too.
