I found this picture on Flickr of V&T Engine #22, the “Inyo”, on a bit of a field trip. In 1986 it went up to Vancouver, Canada, to participate in Expo 86, one of the last great World’s Fairs. That’s about 1,000 miles away from here, a long trip for such an old girl. It wasn’t the first V&T engine to go to Canada; back in the 1880s the V&T sold a few of its surplus engines to the Canadian Pacific Railway for use on construction trains. They didn’t come back from Canada, though. They stayed there to be scrapped. The Inyo was the first to make the return trip.
