I’m a couple of weeks behind in linking to Dennis Cassinelli’s Chronicles of the Comstock articles. I always enjoy reading these weekly articles because he’s been around the Comstock for decades and as both an archaeologist and a construction worker he’s dug up history, quite literally.
In recent weeks he’s written about The terrible winter of 1889, where weeks of constant snow brought all of Western Nevada to its knees. And also looked over the history of Glenbrook: The Comstock’s connection to Lake Tahoe, and the logging that went on at Lake Tahoe, much of the lumber going to Virginia City either to build houses or shore up the mines.
Dennis has a new article on his site every Sunday, which means there should be another one coming along sometime tomorrow. Can’t wait!
