V&T construction steams ahead. Work on Phase 2 of the reconstructed Virginia and Truckee Railroad has begun, starting the task of bringing the rails down from American Flat into Mound House. Of course, work has been ongoing for the last couple of years, mostly on trying to open and stabilize the tunnel that sits along the route. But now they’re getting down to work on the rest of the right-of-way. The rails should be all laid by June, but because they’re still trying to work out an agreement between the Northern Nevada Railway Foundation and the currently-operating V&T in Virginia City, there probably won’t be any trains running on the rails for some time.
