PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The 2007 Lyon County Fly-In continues a twelve year tradition of bringing aviation opportunities to the youth of our area. The Fly-In is being held on Armed Forces Weekend, May 19 & 20, 2007, at the Silver Springs/Lyon County Regional Airport. Pilots from throughout the west fly in for the day or weekend to showcase the planes that many of them built by hand.
The Fly-In allows the public to get up close and personal with pilots who build and fly their own planes and talk directly with pilots, builders, and restorers of military, antique and ultra-light aircraft. Youths between 8 and 17 years old can enjoy the “Young Eagles” program where we take young people aloft for their first off-the-ground experience, with the goal of creating a life-long interest in aviation and related fields. EAA Chapter 403 will be flying our Young Eagles in RV6, Velocity, Cherokee, Arrow and Piper Colt planes. Attendees can set their chairs on the flight line to watch and enjoy flight demonstrations, fly-bys, rocket displays, model planes, military and antique planes, and a search & rescue demonstration by NAS Fallon Search & Rescue.
The Fly-In is open to the public from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and there will be a pancake breakfast each day, free to pilots who fly in, from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Crafts and food booths are open all day, too.
Our raffles have some super prizes, including two round-trip tickets to anywhere SouthWest Airlines flies, a Dell 17” flat panel computer monitor, and many more great items.
We are expecting over 3,000 attendees, making the Fly-In one of Lyon County’s largest events.
