In the middle of September, Carson City held its fourth annual Murals & Music Festival. Artists from around town and around the world descended on Carson to paint almost two dozen murals in one week. This festival started in 2023 and has run every year since, but they are claiming that this will be the last one for a while.

Brewery Arts Center and Visit Carson City have curated 70+ new murals across town over the last three festivals and frankly, we are running out of walls. Due to this, we will be taking a break from the annual event after this year, so help us send it off in style.

That’s too bad that they won’t be continuing it, but I can see what they mean about running out of walls. The Brewery Arts Center itself doesn’t have any blank walls left. Some buildings have multiple smaller murals on them, painted over the course of a few years. A couple of murals were lost when a building was torn down this spring, and I noticed that a couple of the new murals this year actually painted over previous ones. I do still see empty walls when I’m driving around, but those probably belong to grumpypants who don’t want colorful art on their premises.

So let’s take one last look at this year’s new murals, and hope that they mean it when they say they will probably still be commissioning murals in the future, just on a smaller scale. A map is available to show all of this year’s murals.
