This view looks at the west side of Carson Street, at Fourth. Judging by the car, it’s sometime in the 1920s. In the foreground is the Carson City Theater. In the background to the right is the St. Charles Hotel, with a sign on the side identifying it as the Golden West Hotel.
100 years later, these buildings are still here. The one on the corner (which I couldn’t read the name in the old photo) is now Caterpillar’s Hookah Lounge. The old theater is Comma Coffee, and the St Charles Hotel has been renovated and returned to its original name.
How wonderful they were able to keep the old buildings so close to original (at least on the outside)!
