Carson City used to have many more small motels catering to travelers. A lot of them have been converted to weekly or monthly rentals, but some of them are gone completely. One of the ones that has been lost is the El Ranch-Otel. This motel was at 1800 N. Carson Street, just north of the Frontier Motel. It had a main building with an office and motel rooms, but it also had some smaller cottages around the property.
In the 1960s some of the cottages were removed, and a service station was built on the corner of Bath and Carson. The motel remained for a bit, but it was torn down in the 1970s. The Canyon Falls office building (formerly Evergreen Center) was built on the site.

The gas station on the corner is now Mario’s Auto Repair.
Even though the motel itself is gone, some of the cottages were reportedly moved to Wendy Lane in Carson City, and are now used as residences. These cottages on Wendy sure do seem to match up with the ones at the motel.
