Ritchford Hotel

Constructed in 1896.

The Ritchford Hotel was built in Gardnerville in 1896 as a stage stop on the way to Bodie and Aurora. It soon became the premiere hotel in the valley, known as "the" place to stay when you travelled to Gardnerville.

In 1937 a fire broke out on the top floor, and only a quick response from the fire company stopped the building from burning completely to the ground. The top floor was destroyed, but the other two were repaired and still stand along Hwy 395 today.

The building currently is home to the Rancho Grande Mexican restaurant.

In 2004 a bronze plaque was placed outside as part of the Gardnerville Historic Walking Tour.
