Jensen Mansion

1431 Ezell Street, Gardnerville, NV

Constructed in 1910.

Arendt Jensen arrived in Gardnerville from Denmark in the late 1800s, and immediately opened a store on Main Street, along the stage route between Carson City and the mining towns of Bodie and Aurora. He enjoyed enormous success as both a merchant and a banker, and in 1910 he was able to build this Colonial Revival mansion just two blocks away from his store.

Jensen Mansion

This was probably the largest house in Gardnerville when it was built; I can't imagine it wasn't, since it's still the biggest house in the downtown area. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, and in 2004 a bronze plaque was placed outside as part of the Gardnerville Historic Walking Tour.
