When I was growing up in Gardnerville back in the 50's and 60's, this was a laundry operated by Joe Nishikida and his wife. Their son, Joe Jr., was one of my best friends back in the grade school days. I believe "Junior," as his parents called him, is a captain with the Reno Fire Department now. Joe Sr. served in Italy during WWII in a Nisei (Japanese-American) battalion that became one of the most decorated units in US military history. My dad used to take his work shirts there to be laundered, and I remember he had to allow plenty of time. Mrs. Nishikida loved to visit with her patrons.
