I went to Qdoba on November 28th, 2007 to see how it was. They opened a week or so ago, so I figured that any type of kinks were ironed out. The serving style is interesting. Think of Subway and Taco Bell mixed together. You walk up and they ask what you would like and what to put on it. It is ALL 'a la carte'. No combinations...no chips included with your order. I was going to order my son a childs plate, but it only had a soda (no milk) and a bag of chips added to it. We skipped that since it didn't sound too healthy.
They have different styles of burritos, tacos, and nachos...mostly with different kinds of meat, veggies, and cheeses. No, you can't have the whole enchilada because they don't have any. I got a fajita burrito, my wife a taco, and my son a chicken quesadilla. My burrito was big, but it was bland and really didn't have much taste to it. My wife's meal had meat that was between cold and warm. My son got bored of the quesadilla pretty quick and asked, "where are the chips?". Back up to the line to order chips. The chips were unlike any type of chip I have tasted before...especially for mexican style. They were heavily salty and tasted like they were baked...and not made from tortillas. I'm not really sure what they were made from, but they tasted so terrible that it wasn't even worth eating all of them (which is extremely rare for me).
I was somewhat expecting this new restaurant to be something along the lines of Baja Fresh, but I was sorely disappointed. Baja Fresh has great tasting hot food, included chips, and a healthy kids menu (milk and apple sauce). After I went to Qdoba, I found I couldn't even really compare the two. Sadly, we will not be returning to Qdoba since there is no reason to go back.
SAD TO HEAR ITS BAD...BUT I WILL GIVE IT A TRY ESPECIALLY WHILE USING MY CHARTER REWARDS CARD THAT YOU GET WHEN YOU ARE A CHARTER CUSTOMER. IT GIVES YOU $8.00 OFF, EACH MONTH, SO BASICALLY I CAN EAT THERE FREE. BUT I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO SEE IF ITS EVEN WORTH FREE!!
I wasn't very impressed with Qdoba. There was so much hype and excitement before it opened, but it all lead up to a disappointing result. The food isn't really that flavorful or unique, and the menu is really limited. The burrito I had was decent and the salsa was pretty good, but my mom and grandma got sick from the tortilla soup, so you may want to stay away from that...I agree that if a Baja Fresh came to town, they would give Qdoba a run for its money!

I've only had one burrito from there, the Queso Burrito, and I thought it had plenty of flavor. The chips are weird, though.
It beats Taco Bell/Del Taco, but if Baja Fresh ever came to town, Qdoba would be in trouble.
