tymxgrl's Blog« prev1 2next » Wednesday, May 26, 2010These ladies were in our park very early this morning. There were about 30 cars lined up our street and all looked like they were raring to go. Good job ladies! Friday, April 10, 2009The Nevada State Museum has installed the first large-scale artifact in the new connecting structure, a 1902 Basque sheepherders wagon. The wagon was built around 1902 for the Campbell Ranch in White Pine County. The sheepherders wagon was also owned by the Baker family, they used the wagon from 1930 to 1941. The first sheepherders wagon was built by James Candlish of Rawlins, Wyoming in 1884. He designed and built the original sheepherders wagon from an old wagon behind his shop. This wagon was open in front, with the interior canvas flap to block the wind, and was quickly adopted by sheepmen all over the west. Monday, October 20, 2008The Station Grille has closed. Yet another closure in Carson City. According to the Nevada Appeal it's due to a "severe downturn in business." Friday, August 29, 2008This is one of four mailboxes that were destroyed this morning up Goni Canyon. There was one other last week in the same neighborhood. Here's a tip on how to Protect Yourself From Mailbox Vandalism (USPS). Friday, August 15, 2008Wednesday, July 9, 2008Looks like the Post-it wars are here. Found four cars in north Carson this morning, wrapped up like sausages. Now that's good fun. Tuesday, June 17, 2008A bear was in the Goni Canyon neighborhood yesterday and has been moved. Be bear aware. Sunday, January 13, 2008Carson City’s Hidden Gem. You'd never think so, looking at Khristopher's Cafes’ unpromising retail-strip storefront from the street. But once you step through the door, you’ll find the décor relaxing, the smell inviting, while the food is out of this world. The café, with no more than 11 tables offers a very warm and cozy setting. The fare is standard café, although executed to a much higher than standard level. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and are open at 7am every morning. They have salads, sandwiches, and pasta, and a nice selection of breakfast options prepared fresh daily. This morning I opted for the Sun Dried Tomato & Feta Cheese Scramble with Red Rosemary Home-Style Potatoes. My husband had the Breakfast Burrito and for the first time, ever had one without putting Tabasco on it. It didn’t need it! The soothing Italian Arias and the tastefully appointed décor are the perfect setting for that special meal at prices that are extremely fair. This one I highly recommend. Tuesday, September 11, 2007...just a reminder to be “Bear Aware”...these guys are hungry, and tired, and thirsty...notice how this one’s “eyeing” my barbeque...not sure if this is bear one, or bear two from yesterday at the fort of “Captain Chaos”...
