Parents and Students Invited to Learn about Insight Online Public High School on May 7, 2009 at the Plaza Hotel and Conference Center

LAS VEGAS (April 20, 2009) ? Insight School of Nevada has announced a series of 13 information sessions scheduled during the month May for parents and students to learn about the online public high school’s innovative programs in preparation for Fall 2009 applications. In addition to presentations by Insight staff, a current Insight student will share his or her personal experiences and the benefits of the program. Insight School of Nevada is a full-time, diploma-granting school offered tuition-free for students throughout the state.

“High school students are a very diverse group with a wide range of dreams, aspirations and goals. Plus, each set of personal circumstances is different regarding their social environment, work commitments and family relationships,” said Insight School of Nevada Executive Director Gary Waters. “While some are planning to enter the military or an immediate career choice, others are looking toward trade school or four-year college. Their experiences in high school form a vital transition phase in their development, a portal for defining their identity and their goals for the future. Our commitment at Insight is to provide a unique online approach that enables each student to embark on the path most suited to their success.”

Insight brings a safe high school experience to the student, wherever they may be, whenever is most convenient to them via the Internet with a school-provided laptop computer. Insight also offers students a wide range of social activities such as clubs, study groups and social events. Personalized, one-on-one support is available through teachers, iMentors, guidance counselors, tutoring and 24-hour tech support. In addition, a Career Pathways program and internship opportunities help prepare students for jobs, careers and college.

“I was excited when I heard about Insight on our local radio station and knew we had to check into it as an option for my education,” said Insight freshman Kortnee Keough. “At Insight, help is only a tap on the keyboard away, and my iMentor is very cool and helpful. Insight provides me the opportunity to have a more flexible schedule, and I can train for next year’s rodeo. I’ve already been asked to participate in the pro-rodeo when I turn 18 years old!”

The upcoming information sessions will cover the key benefits of attending an online high school, an online demonstration of a typical classroom session, information on the robust Insight Schools curriculum, a review of available social activities, a question and answer period, and application materials.

The Carson City session is scheduled for: May 7, 2009 from 6:30 ? 8:00 p.m. at the Plaza Hotel and Conference Center at 801 South Carson Street in Carson City.

Insight School of Nevada focuses on each student’s lifestyle, learning style, interests and needs to prepare them to achieve their goals for life after high school. It teaches skills and provides experiences for the 21st Century, skills that are relevant and that students will use after high school, and experiences that will prepare them for a global economy.
