CARSON CITY OUTLET FIRST TO CARRY NEW NATIVE-MADE BUFFALO AND CRANBERRY BARS
Aloha Medicinals first area retailer to offer all-natural Tanka Bars

KYLE, S.D. June 26, 2008 - A lot more people in the Carson City area are going to get a chance to "Taste the Energy" following Native American Natural Foods' announcement today that Aloha Medicinals is introducing the Tanka Bar to area consumers.

Aloha Medicinals, 2300 Arrowhead Drive, joins more than 1,150 locations nationally where people can find the all-natural buffalo and cranberry energy bar. Prior to this, Tanka Bars were only available to Carson City consumers online and through a toll-free number.

"We are so happy to be introduced to the Carson City market," said CEO Karlene Hunter. "People have been clamoring for us to make Tanka Bars more accessible, and now Aloha Medicinals is helping us do that."

The Tanka Bar, which pairs prairie-raised American buffalo with tart-sweet cranberries, is a modern artisanal take on a traditional Native American recipe for "wasna" or "pemmican," which has been described by many nutritionists as the perfect energy food. The 100 percent natural bar is 70 calories and 1.5 grams of fat per 1 ounce serving, with no trans fats.

"We are so anxious to let people try it for themselves since a meat-based energy bar is actually a new product category," she said. "Tanka Bars don't taste medicinal or like a candy bar. They are tender, flavorful and good for you. We're convinced that once people taste them, they'll choose pure meat protein-based energy over 'enhanced' cereal bars every time."

Native American Natural Foods, which is based in Kyle, S.D., on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, introduced the Tanka Bar to the North Dakota market in October. The company provides a category of natural healthy products in the marketplace that currently does not exist. By adding value to traditional Native food products, using modern scientific methods, the least amount of processing, and the lowest-stress animal handling methods possible, Native American Natural Foods innovates value-added products for the United States food marketplace.
